Geodesic Gardens

BACKGROUND

Geodesic Gardens is a concept company that I created as a student project to develop corporate brand identity. I was asked to create a company inspired by Buckminster Fuller, the architect and creator of the geodesic dome.

The fictitious company manufactures geodesic dome greenhouses that can be bought online, shipped, and assembled by the average gardener or farmer. The company would cater to gardeners and growers who want to remain active year-round in snowy climates.

The logo design emphasizes delicate plant life protected inside the rigid structure of a hexagon – an elemental shape of a geodesic dome. The typography contrast reflects the relationship of a lightweight structure supported on solid ground.

Brainstorming sketches for logo design explored ways to combine the flowing, natural shape of plants with the rigid, precise elements of geodesic engineering.
